For quite some time, all people were told was that these medications were miracle drugs, capable of not only help you shed those unwanted pounds, but also will lower your cholesterol. A large percentage of the public began taking these meds, especially when they became more affordable in recent years.

Yet I always thought, with time, research will come out about possible serious side effects. Not surprisingly, it is now known that people who take these meds have a higher risk of going blind

Semaglutide

A new study led by investigators from Mass Eye and Ear found that patients prescribed semaglutide (as Ozempic or Wegovy) for diabetes or weight loss had a higher risk of having a potentially blinding eye condition called NAION than similar patients who had not been prescribed these drugs.

I suspect that as years pass, more studies will report other side effects.

While I am not saying you should now consider taking these meds, but be aware that you may eventually come down with something, that initially might not be linked, to this med, but…
