Essentially that does not exist anymore. This is due to advances in technology. A cop that pulls you over for a routine traffic violation can see everything, your previous tickets and whether you are facing legal charges. Your medical records are not private, an insurance company will search to see if you have ever faced serious medical problems, have smoked or God forbid, have been treated for a mental illness.
I recently found out that my social security number was on the dark web thanks to ATT. And recently I applied for a loan and was flooded with calls and text from fvarious lending companies.
There has been concern about block cameras and where I live they have been forced to remove some due to the fact that rogue cops are using them to spy on their spouses.
It is difficult to do anything about this unless you want to live off the grid and get rid of your laptop and phone. But there are things you can do. Think about who you share your personal information with. Check your security settings. And be careful about what you tell your doctor as it will be included in your permanent medical record
