We all know their names Harvard yale Stanford and there are smaller colleges such as brown vassar and smith. These are seen as the best we have to offer in education rivaling Cambridge.
Such many famous people have attended these schools including presidents. Clinton Obama bush Roosevelt and kennedy and famous celebrities including Matt Damon and jody foster. And sometimes an ivy League diploma is a ticket to success. But there are other equally successful people who have dropped out including Bill Gates and Zuckerberg my son graduated from Reed a yuppie college in portland, Steve jobs dropped out of there. I can’t recall how much it costs when he attended but now it costs 100k a year. Think about it who can afford that.
There are even very successful people who dropped out of high school such as Nicole kidman and Kathryn zeta jones and Johnny depp
At times attending these prestigious schools can help you get a job in finance and law. My son was able to attend Harvard law but it did help that he achieved an almost perfect score on the LSAT.
I am writing about this because I recently heard about allegations that a bunch of cornell chaps raped a fellow student. At first cornell wanted to sweep it under the rug, punish these guys with a slap on the wrist, requiring them to write an essay, give me a break. So boys will be boys but these boys grow into men, men that abuse their wives and engage in inappropriate behaviors on the job.
Is an ivy League college just a scam, a way to hide nasty stuff behind those ivy towers.
