Historically Americans have idolized a range of people – Lincoln, JFK, MLK, Marilyn Monrow. Bogart, Joe DiMaggio – all people who deserved American affection. In more recent your you can add Taylor Swift and Dolly parton to that list.
But about 10 years ago a man came into the public eye. A fairly good looking man who was a TV celebrity and who was quite wealthy. He promised to make American great again, and at that time America was really not doing that badly. Soon many people were proudly buying his merch and voting him into the highest place in our government. Don’t matter that he was a felon and that he like to abuse women and young girls. Hey he was your idol.
Fast forward 10 years, America is the laughingstock of the world. Not only is not America great, but out economy is in the toilet and everyday people cannot afford to pay for gas/groceries/health care.
Now many folks who supported this guy are wondering why. I wonder that as well. But give yourself a break, it is easy to follow a con man. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
