DREAMS

Shakespear said, To sleep perhaps to dream, ah there’s the rub. Some dreams can be kinda scary and there are the anxiety dreams like speaking to a large group and realizing you are naked. I suspect that kids have anxiety dreams related to a fear of school.

Dreams sometimes wake you up and some people keep a dream journal. Years ago I had a recurring dream where I was wondering in a forest seaching for my home, I stopped having this dream after I built a cabin in the forest I owned in SE Ohio.

I have often wondered about dreams and while they generally are a reframing of what has happened in the past several days, I believe dreams at times can give you insight into various conflicts you may have. As far as brain functioning and dreams…Most vivid dreams occur during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, a crucial stage for brain function, memory, and emotional processing.

What is REM Sleep?

REM sleep is a stage of the sleep cycle that typically begins about 90 minutes after falling asleep and recurs multiple times throughout the night, with each episode lengthening as sleep progresses Harvard University During REM sleep, the brain becomes highly active, similar to wakefulness, while the body experiences temporary muscle paralysis to prevent acting out dreams

When I was doing research into brain functioning, I thought about doing a study on where people who have suffered brain damage, especially those that have lost the ability to speak – I wondered if they would be able to speak in their dreams

I believe dreams are a window into the unconsciousness and are worth exploring in one’s quest to understand yourself
