MAKING SENSE OF YOUR LIFE

As one ages, we reflect upon our past in an effort to understand all that has happened in your life, the good and the bad. Humans are storytelling creatures; we formulate narratives to understand who we are, where we came from and what our lives mean. As we age we may be flooded by feelings of regret or residual feelings from unresolved conflicts. Personally, I often struggle with understanding why my sister and me no longer speak with each other. Creating this narrative does not mean lying to yourself. It helps to frame difficult experiences from your past as part of a redemption narrative, one in which adversity leads to growth or insight.
